First off let me apologize for my absence on the blog but I’m back now. Since I’ve started using Mozilla Firefox with my Windows Live Hotmail account, I’ve noticed that horizontal white lines have been appearing on in-line images in my e-mails while scrolling down. The slower that I would scroll, the more white lines would appear. If I scroll really fast then there would be less lines. Now it seems there is either a bug in Firefox or the scripts being used by Windows Live Hotmail have some rendering issues.
I use Windows Live Hotmail “Full Version” and in “Full Message View”, ie. with the Reading Pane off, so I’m not sure if the same problem occurs if the reading pane is on. The solution that I have found to this problem with Firefox and Windows Live Hotmail is quite simple and just involves installing a Free Extension or Add-on for Mozilla Firefox.
The extension is called Stylish and can be downloaded from the link below.
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2108
Once you have downloaded and installed the Add-on, you will have to restart Firefox. After restarting, you will see a new icon near the bottom-right side of your Firefox window. The icon looks like this ![]()
Open Windows Live Hotmail and then right click the Stylish icon. From the menu that comes up choose Write Style > For mail.live.com
In the new window that pops up, enter the following:
Here is the code for easy selection. Just select it, copy and paste.
@namespace url(http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml);
@-moz-document domain(”mail.live.com”) {
.ReadMessagePane {overflow-y:scroll !important; overflow-x:scroll !important}}
The Description could be anything you want actually, but I’ve use the description above as it most suits the situation. Click Save when you are finished entering the information above and scroll through some images. There should not be any more of those pesky lines.

I have looked all over the internet and you were the only one whom I could find that could relate to the lines appearing while scrolling… except, I DON’T use Firefox and it’s happening to me… but only on some pages (Like my Yahoo and my online college course pages, strangely.)
Not sure what to do. Help!

Oh, btw, I use Internet Explorer…

Hey Adrea,
I’m not a frequent user of Internet Explorer (IE) so I’m not exactly sure what your problem might be.
Can you tell me what version of IE you are using as well as what operating system you are running.
My first bit of advice would be to update IE if you are not running the latest version already.
This may solve the issue.
Let me know what takes place.

I’m running IE 8 already with Vista. I DO know that sometimes the lines occur when there’s a frame that I can X out of at the top of the page. (ie when I’m doing an image search.) When I X out of that and get the whole web page, the lines disappear. I don’t know if that gives you any clues or not. And sometimes the lines aren’t visible exactly… but the text is affected while scrolling line per line (unless I click on that line.)
Eh. It’s annoying. I’m going to figure this out if I have to learn everything there is to know about computers first! LOL
Thanks for your help.

Hey Adrea.
I haven’t really faced this problem so I can’t say from experience how it could be fixed.
However, what I could advise is that you look for updated display drivers for your machine, install the updates, and then see if the problem goes away.
Let me know if that works for you Adrea.
