One of the most talked about laptops of 2009 has finally been released to the public today (March 17th, 2009) and is currently available for purchase online. The laptop in question is the Dell Adamo. Billed as the thinnest laptop, it now competes directly with Apple’s Macbook Air and HP’s Voodoo Envy 133 for thinnest laptop honors.

The Adamo comes in two colors, Pearl and Onyx. It boasts an ultra-slim .65 inch (16.51mm) profile, 13.4-inch widescreen, HD display, with edge to edge glass. The keyboard is backlit and the hard drive is the very cool and quiet solid-state type. They are equipped with Intel Core 2 Duo processors with Centrino technology and DDR3 RAM. It also comes with built in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

By now I am sure you are wondering what is the price of this fine machine. Well they start off at US$1,999 for the ADMIRE version that comes with a 1.2 GHz Core 2 Duo, 2GB RAM and a 128GB solid state hard drive. The higher end of the spectrum is called the DESIRE, and that boasts a 1.4 GHz Core 2 Duo, 4GB RAM and a 128 GB solid state hard drive, all for US$2699. These are the starting prices and you can end up paying a lot more depending on what additional features you may want add.

Not wanting to sound critical, but at that price, it will be hard to compete. Especially with the general economic downturn that most countries have been experiencing and with the popularity of the cheaper mini-laptops. I would appreciate your comments seeing as how the current economic downturn in my budget doesn’t allow me to purchase one.
